About Digital Radio Audio Service

Digital Radio was launched on 19th November 1999 and is a Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) service from MediaCorp. It is Asia’s first digital radio service. Digital Radio offers high quality sound. Its unique digital transmission technology removes the sound distortion that you sometimes hear on your FM radio. With DAB radio, you can also access details such as the song title, artiste's name and even traffic report in the form of scrolling text display on the LCD screen from our DLS (Dynamic Label Segment) service. The result is an enriched and even more intimate entertainment medium which provides both aural and visual impact for a growing group of Digital Radio enthusiasts.

Digital Radio Data Service
Digital Radio also provides timely and up-to-date information in easy-to-read text and graphics on its PAD/NPAD data services. PAD is the Programme Associated Data service and it includes slideshow accompanying each Digital Radio audio station showing pictures and information of the station’s DJs, news headline, name and picture of classical music composers and so on. In addition, song title and artiste’s name are available in our DLS service which can be seen as scrolling text display on all existing DAB radios. NPAD is the Non-Programme Associated Data service. This is our dedicated data service which is organised in a fashion that is similar to a website browser. There are currently more than 20 data services available on Digital Radio. These data services range from news, traffic reports, airport flight information, to entertainment news and an events guide.
